What is ASMR | Sensory Healing?

These sessions are loosely based on ASMR, which stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. ASMR is described as a “tingly, pleasant response” to external stimuli, particularly sounds. Studies have shown that ASMR alone has led to positive effects, such as:

  • Lower heart rates

  • Overall reduced stress levels

  • Improved pain symptoms

  • Reduced anxiety

  • Better sleep

Sensory Healing sessions takes ASMR to another level!

By adding other senses like sounds, smells, & tactile sensations to the experience, Sensory Healing sessions bring about comfort, relaxation, stress-relief, and an awareness of being in the present moment.

You will also experience whispered, guided visualizations to facilitate setting aside stressful or negative thoughts in order to truly allow healing to happen.

Sensory Healing is meant to teach us to be in control of our thoughts and physiological reactions to those thoughts. Over time, sensory healing can potentially “train” the body to tune in to the sensory triggers that elicit feelings of peace, tranquility, and control.

What does a Sensory Healing Session look like?

The ASMR | Sensory Healing Sessions focus on the head & face. You lay comfortably on our massage table, clothed at your comfort level. Relax and enjoy the following:

  • Weighted blanket, warm neck wrap and ambient music

  • Hair brushing

  • Gentle scalp, face, ear, and neck stimuli

  • Skin brushing with soft brushes

  • Water globes

  • Aromatherapy

  • Close ear sounds

  • Whispered guided visualization

  • Positive affirmation

  • Option for cup of complimentary herbal tea at session completion
